Twitter Basics: What is #FF?

What is #FF? It’s Follow Friday.
Here’s why it’s awesome.
Follow Friday is a way for your followers and theirs to share friends and network each other in the Twitterverse. It’s a great and simple way to grow your following, and a fun way to engage with the tweeps in your stream that bring you your favourite content — whether that’s news, entertainment, great pics, links, or targeted topical info.
Here’s how it works.
Pick the people that you are following that you enjoy most and mention them in a tweet, along with a bit of context. So if you love that they tweet about Star Wars, include that as a hash tag, or say something like ‘My favourite geeks to follow..’
At the end of your tweet, use the hashtag #FF.
That’s it!
This is the party equivalent of saying ‘Bob, meet Mary. Mary meet Bob. You guys both like horses.’
The mentions in your tweet can now follow each other, and of course so can your followers and theirs. And the rest of the Twitterverse can catch wind of them too if you pop up in their stream or if they’re searching the #FF hashtag, or another tag that they’re interested in.
Here’s another example:
#FF is also a bit of a virtual love-fest. It’s a nice way to say ‘Hey! I value what you have to say.’ It’s a great way to start someone’s weekend off with a warm 140 character blush, and everyone benefits and expands their networks.
Huzzah!
Happy Tweeting!
Cheers,
Kat
